Helen Tiffany is a designer maker working in glass and metal.
Helen specializes in kiln formed techniques, making decorative glassware and enamelled silver jewellery. Making and selling her pieces directly from her studio workshop at Manchester Craft and Design Centre.
She first discovered her passion for glass and metalwork while studying Design Crafts at University. Learning a broad range of crafts including ceramics, textiles, wood and paper as well as metal and glass gave her an understanding of how materials can be used to their best advantage.
Helen graduated in 2007 and has been an independent maker since. She continues to be driven by working directly with materials and inspired by the unique qualities each offer. Glass and metal with their liquid and solid properties offer unlimited possibilities.
As a designer maker Helens aim is to produce well made unique handmade pieces. Creative use of materials is at the core of Helens making. Every bit of raw material is used, developing unique processes and new techniques through experimentation.
Forms are kept simple to allow the materials to shine. Colour, structure, order and pattern are common themes throughout her collections. Every piece can be made in a variety of colours, making each handmade piece personal to its owner.
